The Game Plan

With a mobile application with a niche intention & design, it was important to find the user's needs as well as pull inspiration from other systems that use the main features of Evergreen: a point tracking system and a ticketing system. The main designs I took inspiration was Starbucks' star rewards system and Ticketmaster's event card UI.

Through research we found, we found key insights of participants' relationship to the cleanliness of a sporting venue. If I was the user, what would I want from an application like this?

Point Tracking System

Starbucks Rewards

You can easily see how many stars you have, see how many stars equate to what rewards, & clean visual of the stars you have accumulated.

Event Ticketing System

Ticketmaster

Visually see upcoming events through cards.

Based on user research...

Overall cleanliness of a venue is a plus, but not a necessity for affecting attendance. Rather the location, time, date, and subject of the event.

Possible solution: create a ‘tailored’ feed based on interest in sport, location, as well as suggested other

Possible solution: making a forum or “social” type of aspect can allow to connect with others on the experience of a venue

A reward system would promote general incentivization to pick up others’ trash along with their own.

Possible solution: point system tracker, know what points get certain rewards

Most only actively use 1-2 ticketing related apps, so structure/familiarity with these apps would be ideal

Possible solution: connect/link to those apps

01. Familiarity

Structuring Evergreen in a way that felt familiar & incorporate widely-used organization systems was vital to make Evergreen approachable & accessible.

02. Access to Points

Having the user easily access how many points or 'leaves' they have accumulated is the main purpose of the application. Therefore, having a guide to see rewards, forefront access to points, and simple UI was key.

03. Finding Meaning in Green

A 'green'/sustainability centered application is not a very common for most people online so designing with the intention of visually presenting rewards to the user makes them see that their actions can bring positive feedback.

Final Iteration

After multiple rounds of back-and-forths, there was a final UI and experience system that flowed smoothly. It was really important for me to zero in on what are the basic functions in Evergreen that I think would benefit a first-time user.

Home Page

The home page is the central navigation point for digital interfaces so making one for Evergreen was vital reflect an experience that was simple & intuitive.

The GreenFeed can be accessed at the top of the page, with a Leaves tracker. Then a carousel with the user's upcoming events linking to other ticketing services. Lastly, a community button and a 'green fact of the day'.

GreenFeed + Leaf Guide

The GreenFeed is the main focal point of Evergreen, as a tracker of how many Leaves the user has as well as their history of previous used Leaves, and what venue they accumulated them from.

The Leaf Guide is to see corresponding number of Leaves to their redeemable rewards.

Upcoming Events

A feed comprised of clickable cards that display and link to the user's upcoming events. Aside from utilizing Evergreen, they have access to their event information all in one place!

Community

Evergreen's in-house social media that allows users to connect about anything but most importantly ...share their Evergreen experience!

Conclusion

Takeaways

This project was challenging in aspects like combining both a ticketing system, point tracker system, as well as forum/social media feature. But it was all in all very refreshing to be able to bring to life something that helps both event-attending users as well as the environment.

The main roadblock I ran into was optimizing the user flow in ways that seemed familiar/intuitive but also unique to Evergreen. Prioritizing necessary functions like the Leaf tracker and upcoming events based off of the user survey and popular point tracking/ticketing applications aided this process.

I look to build upon Evergreen in the future to a desktop version and overall make it more functional, accessible, and of course...green!
